The Royal Free London Group is proud of the care we provide

The Royal Free Hospital
• YOUR article (1% who go to the Royal Free die, May 2) fails to take into account that the Royal Free London has one of the lowest mortality rates in the country.
The mortality rates for the Royal Free London Group are approximately 85 per cent, which means that patients under our care are 15 per cent less likely to die than patients admitted to an average English hospital.
On average 25 patients a month survive at the Royal Free London who would not in an average hospital. As a large specialist trust we treat patients with a range of complex conditions and we are hugely proud of the care we provide.
We always want to improve care and to learn from past experiences – which is why we produced a board report containing analysis of patient deaths during the past year and why the Royal Free London continues to be one of the safest places in the UK to be treated.
