The Spiritualists’ National Union must not be allowed to change the function of this temple

08 February, 2018

• AT last it seems the truth about the Spiritualists’ National Union may be surfacing (Spiritualists’ temple in demolition threat, February 1).

There are two outstanding applications with Camden. The second does not include total demolition but will still devastate the building and bulldoze the garden of remembrance.

Clearly this concession, involving a “community space”, was made because of the uproar from conservationists and the hundreds of objections.

But the SNU should not be permitted to change the function of the temple that was created by Arthur Conan Doyle and his contemporaries as a place of worship and comfort for those who have lost loved ones.
