Was this an attempt to take my wife’s chain?

10 May, 2019

• YOU reported on the theft of a daughter’s gold bracelet, (Pensioner loses last link to dead daughter in distraction theft, May 2).

My wife and I were walking on Mansfield Road a couple of weeks ago when approached by a middle-aged couple. The man asked my wife for directions to the Royal Free Hospital while the lady asked me for directions to Camden Town.

We both explained how to get to both places, then the man embraced my wife, kissing her on both cheeks. The lady thanked me and walked on.

On arriving home my wife’s chain around her neck fell to the ground. The clasp on this is hard to open and we both thought the man may have tried to take it but fumbled it.

Rona Road, NW3
