Terrorist attack near Finsbury Park Mosque: ‘We must not allow hatred to breed’

• WE are Camden faith leaders who write in great sadness following the terrible terrorist attack near Finsbury Park Mosque.

It is heart-breaking to hear of yet another horrific attack on the streets of London, this time targeting Muslims who had been at prayer.

We stand in sympathy and solidarity with the Muslim community and our hearts go out to the victims and to our neighbours in Islington. This is an attack on innocent Londoners.

Like the horrific attacks in Manchester, Westminster, London Bridge and Borough Market, it is an assault on our shared values of mutual respect and acceptance that sit at the heart of our vibrant city.

We must not allow hatred to breed. This is a time for people of all backgrounds – of all faiths and of none – to stand united and show our determination that we do not tolerate prejudice, hate and division.

We are One Camden and One London. Our diverse community is one to be celebrated and strengthened.
