We want the Euston station redevelopment to be a catalyst for more homes and jobs
08 March, 2018
• WE have clear expectations for the development of Euston station, which remain consistent across both our role as a planning authority and as representatives of residents.
The Euston area is home to thousands of our residents and so, first and foremost, the comprehensive redevelopment of the station must ensure this area remains a place for our community. We don’t want this to be a bland development with no soul.
Instead we want the station redevelopment to be a catalyst for more genuinely affordable homes and local jobs at Euston, a development that knits our communities closer together through improved access in and around the station and one which creates green and open space.
It must match the vision of the Euston Area Plan, the plan for the area agreed by Camden Council, the Mayor of London and Transport for London.
We’ll be demanding that the views of Camden’s residents and businesses are heard at every stage in developing these plans. We will set up a Euston-specific citizens’ panel to gather views on what residents and interested parties want this development to achieve for the Euston area, to ensure this scheme gets community input.
We have residents with a range of expertise and we want them to be in the driving seat as plans develop. We are developing a draft planning brief for the Euston station area, which we will consult on in summer 2018.
