West Hampstead Community Centre close classes but remain open to provide ongoing support for the borough’s most vulnerable.

Calls are being made for volunteers to help deliver food drops to the elderly during the coronavirus outbreak.

Euan Grimley, administrator at the centre, said: “We are having to play it day by day. The centre is still open but it is just me coming in and classes are being cancelled.”

The centre is still running some classes for children but sessions for over 70s have been taken off the programme.

The centre has over 1,000 members.

Mr Grimley added: “We are sending out information to all members and looking at how to still make ourselves useful. It would be really helpful for anyone with ideas to come forward. We are all ears. Things are changing so much and we are trying to respond in the best way we can.”
