What about the toxic tweets?

A group unveils the crossing in support of transgender people, including Camden’s mayor Sabrina Francis, regeneration chief Danny Beales and the head of Forum + Tessa Havers-Strong [Simon Lamrock]

• THE political gossip website order-order revealed (November 19) that Camden’s transgender celebratory crossing cost a profligate £25,000.

It was funded primarily through Camden’s Community Investment Levy, which is arguably residents’ money. There are four more such confusing and expensive (to my mind) frivolously wasteful rainbow crossing on Camden High Street.

The cabinet member responsible for the CIL, Cllr Danny Beales, was proud to be photographed at the official opening and quoted as saying: “Camden is renowned for being ‘no place for hate’ and a borough that has a strong and continuing history of respecting support for everyone.”

This sits uncomfortably with the recent revelation of Labour’s whip’s five years of covert, toxic, tweets, (Lazzaro Pietragnoli resigns over ‘abusive’ social media account, November 22).

I’m very relieved to hear that he has late-in-the-day now recognised that he had to resign, having hugely embarrassed Camden’s Labour administration.
