Why not try handball?

20 July, 2018

• ISLINGTON Handball Club has had a very successful year on court with our main teams.

Our prospects were looking great until our success seemed to bother some people. Our governing body complained about some players having been fielded without the proper international transfer certificate.

We appealed their decision as there were many question over their procedure. Despite our transparency and lack of malice, our progression is doomed for this year. Also, next year’s seems compromised too as so many players will still be banned from playing.

This situation is really disheartening for the management team, who are all volunteers and who have given so much of their personal and family time to help run a smooth year.

Despite this setback, the club, in existence for four years, is going from strength to strength.

One of our assets is our promising youth teams. In partnership with St Aloysius’ PE teachers, we have been building a close cooperation in which club coaches have introduced the sport into the school.

We have been partners with Arsenal too, and have been running the Premier League for Sport sessions on Mondays for the after-school club for years.

After our last club AGM a new board of directors was appointed. They are ready to rise to the challenge of moving to the upper leagues.

Anyone is welcome to join us and enjoy the sport we love.

The club will be attending the Go Islington Festival at Highbury Fields from 11am to 4pm on July 28. We will have experienced coaches and youth and adult players at this fun day.
