Woman in her 70s taken to hospital after collision with cyclist being ‘pursued by police’

A 16-year-old was arrested and remains in custody

A WOMAN in her 70s has been taken to hospital after a collision with a teenager on a bicycle allegedly being pursued by police.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested after the incident in York Rise, at the junction of Laurier Road, Dartmouth Park.

An onlooker said the cyclist had collided with the woman after rounding the corner.

The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance and her condition was found to be “not life-threatening or life-changing”.

The boy was arrested “on suspicion of ABH, handling stolen goods, possession with intent to supply, and failing to stop for police on a pedal cycle”.

He remains in custody, a spokesperson for the Met Police confirmed.

A police cordon was put in place on the street, while officers investigated the area however the crime scene has since been closed.

The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed as a matter of routine.
