University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust UCLH seeks new Trust Chair
University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) is one of the most complex NHS trusts in the UK. It serves a diverse population locally and nationally and has an annual turnover of over £0.9bn.
The Trust provides a comprehensive range of acute and specialist clinical services across its seven central London sites. Already a high performing Trust, UCLH aspires to become a world-leading research hospital across all areas of care and treatment. UCLH is seeking to appoint a truly exceptional individual as Chair.
The Chair will provide the leadership to both the Board of Directors and the Council of Governors.
The Board works closely with the Council, and sets the overall policy and strategic direction for the Trust, approves UCLH’s business plan, and monitors delivery of performance against objectives to ensure the Trust consistently delivers high quality, safe and cost effective clinical services.
The successful candidate will have substantial experience at board level, ideally gained within an organisation of comparable size and complexity in the public, private or voluntary sectors.
The Chair will have an enabling style with first class chairing skills, and engender respect at all levels of the organisation.
The ability to influence and persuade at the highest levels in private and public sector contexts will be important.
He/She will provide credible support and challenge to the Trust and have experience of building strong alliances with a wide and diverse range of stakeholders.
Candidates should demonstrate an interest in healthcare and a true appreciation of NHS values and its political and operational environment.
A commitment to UCLH’s values and to the needs of UCLH patients, staff, and the local and national communities served by the Trust, will clearly be required.
UCLH is committed to equality of opportunity for all and welcomes applications from a diverse range of people.
Individuals who are resident within one of London’s 32 boroughs or have been patients of UCLH in the past three years will be eligible for appointment as Chair.
